WHEN SOMEONE DIES

Typically, a death must be registered within the first five days. To accomplish this, you must visit the Register Office in the locality where the individual passed away. Eligible registrants include relatives, individuals present at the time of death, residents of the deceased's household, and the person responsible for arranging the funeral. You'll need to present the Medical Certificate issued by the attending doctor, detailing the cause of death, along with providing the deceased's personal information such as name, marital status, and place of birth.

Tom Newing & Sons Ltd ensures the respectful and sensitive care of the deceased. They remain in our care until the day of the funeral. We advise embalming as it temporarily halts the natural processes following death, particularly crucial if you wish to pay your respects in our chapel of rest. Our team washes and dresses every individual under our care, with our funeral directors carrying out any wishes and requests you may have with utmost care and respect.

Should you desire, you have the option to view the deceased, providing an opportunity for private farewells in an intimate setting. Some find solace in bringing a small gift or photograph to place in the coffin. However, please be aware that viewing a loved one in this situation can be distressing. Regardless of your decision, we offer supportive and empathetic guidance to navigate through this challenging time.

To notify others within the community of the funeral arrangements, we assist in drafting and sending a death announcement to local or national newspapers. Additionally, following the funeral, we can aid in publishing a message in the newspaper to express gratitude to attendees and those who sent flowers or donations. Our funeral arrangement services extend throughout Pembrokeshire, including Milford Haven, Neyland, Haverfordwest, Johnston, Marloes, Dale, St. Ishmael’s, Burton, and Herbrandston.
